Mr Misra trained in Paediatric Surgery at
Belfast, Nottingham and the prestigious Hospital for Sick Children, Great Ormond
Street.
His research thesis on "DNA - ploidy in Wilms' tumour" remains the largest study
published on the subject till date. In l995, at the age of 33, he was appointed
to the Royal London Hospital as a Consultant Paediatric Surgeon. His main love
is teaching, and lectures extensively in the region at various conferences and
educational symposia.
His special interest is Paediatric Urology, in particular , he is in charge of
managing infants with antenatally diagnosed hydronephrosis. A new protocol was
designed in 1995 to investigate these children and the results were published in
the Eur J Paed-Surg, 1999, 9:303-6.
He has described a
new technique of doing umbilical pyloromyotomy. The technique has been
published in his name in the European Journal of Paediatric-Surgery, 8:81-2,
1998, and over 100 cases have been done so far. As the adjoining photograph
shows, the end result is a completely scarless abdomen !
Mr Misra works closely with several Paediatric specialists including
endocrinologists, chest physicians, nutrition and allergy specialists, etc so
that any patient requiring a multi-disciplinary approach gets the benefit of a
consultation with an appropriate specialist.
